The Old Oakland Neighborhood Association engages in several projects. Minimally, we are always engaged in (a) planning our seasonal community events (see more on our Events page) and (b) engaging in the city's current grant cycle to fund both large and small projects that we are currently engaged in.
Current Projects
Projects that are ongoing will be described briefly here. Past projects are highlighted both in the section immediately below on this page and event-based projects also shared on our Events page.
The Old Oakland Community Garden is our most prolific example of a perpetually ongoing project!
Past Projects
In 2021, then-President Peter Fowler collected historical information about redlining practices in the neighborhood with the goal of educating our neighbors on our history and redefining our membership practices to be more inclusive of the community directly east of our official borders. Community members east of us with no neighborhood representation of their own are now eligible voting members in our organization!
